Apr 22, 2016 · You may want to consider 1045/1050 CPO rod stock. It's hard to find but finding it may be easier than having rod plated especially if you aren't planning on hardening. The designation stands for 1045 steel Chrome Plated Only. This is stock that is commonly used in hydraulic rod service and since it's not hardened its machinable.
